Some New Photos and Some New Roundie Owls

I followed the tutorial from Kate McFaul Designs blog and it was very simple. My pictures turned out nice (I think) and I used some in my Etsy shop. Alas it takes FOREVER to edit pics on my computer. I use Picnik and love it but my computer is soooo slooowwww that it becomes unresponsive after 3 or 4 pictures in a row. We're planning on buying a new computer with next years tax rebate! Back to the topic. Instead of using the muslin background Kate suggested, I used some scrapbook paper for a bit o fun.
Here is the first. A new Roundie.

Here is another. This time a Family portrait.
You will see my listed Roundies as well as two additions, the big chocolate brown one with the crazy hair and the sweet little lavender one. The lavender one isn't even listed yet! So enjoy your tiny sneak peek. Look in my etsy shop for more pictures.
In my shop announcement you will see that I'm a member of the  Holiday Cheer Team on Etsy. We have to keep at least one holiday themed item in our shop. I have no problem with that. Lets keep that giving spirit alive all year!
Please give me your opinion because I'm definitely having one heck of a time with taking and editing pictures. I guess what I believe to look good doesn't look so nice to others.

Found a Great Photography Tutorial!

I searched and searched the web for a super cheap and easy photo tutorial to improve my Etsy and blog pics. I found a lot of material about building your own light box. They were pretty simple but, we have three kids, a tight budget and a tiny little home sooo...I finally stumbled upon the blog of Kate McFaul Designs. She is an Etsy seller as well( Kate McFaul Designs) and her experience was just what I was looking for! Here's the link.Photography Tutorial for the Normal Person-No Fancy Equipment Needed
I haven't had a chance to try it out myself as we've been doing the family thang alot this summer but this weekend I'll be sure to give it a shot! I sure have been struggling with  my pictures.

I'm considering joining in on the LIVING FELT 1st Annual International Felting Contest. The theme is Alice in Wonderland which is VERY big in this house right now.

A New Idea!

My daughter Kayla and I came up with a new Wooly World creation. Roundies Owls. They are really cute and who doesn't love owls? Each one will have their own personality and possibly name. I listed 3 prototypes on my Etsy shop to see how they would be received. I've heard nice things so far, but my pictures have a lot left to be desired. I'm not a photographer but even I can see there is too much shadow and blah going on in this picture. I will be looking at photo tutorials this week and fixing up my Etsy shop pics for sure! I'll let you know when I have em done!I'll give props to the tutorial author so keep an eye out for that post.
I need to unify my shop pictures as well. As in find a style/background and stick with it. Its hard to make a decision though. The majority of Etsy shops use white backgrounds and their pictures look fabulous, while mine look boring. Some kind of concept must come to my brain!!! Maybe some cute scrapbook paper? What about outside pics in the grass?Tell me what you think!

Hello. I Love You.

So I think an appropriate way to begin this new blog is by giving thanks to family and friends who supported and encouraged me to stop thinking and start doing. I really needed that kick in the pants to get me going. Thanks to my husband, who puts up with my late nights and projects scattered around the house. A shout out to my sister for getting really excited about this with me. And of course my 3 little inspirations, where would I be with out them?!

Now that's taken care of, a little about Wooly World. Needle felting became a hobby for me about 4 years ago. I toyed with the idea of hitting craft fairs but shyness and lack of confidence in my craft held me back. Finally after seeing all of the fabulous artists on ETSY, I decided to join them. I opened shop May 20th and decided to blog about it. So here we are. Blogging.
